More than 120 passenger jets are being retrofitted under a new programme called “Fly Better,” which is part of Emirates’ around $2 billion investment to enhance the in-flight experience for its guests.

The airline plans to spend $2 billion on upgrades, most of which will go towards updating cabins. In a statement issued on 10 August 2022, Emirates announced plans to refurbish cabins with new or reupholstered seats, new panelling, flooring, and other features. According to the release, the airline plans to equip all 120 planes with Premium Economy seating.

In November of 2022, the first Emirates airliner will be brought into the Emirates Engineering Centre to undergo modifications.

While competitors respond to market challenges by cutting costs, Emirates is investing in providing its customers with “ever greater experiences,” as stated by Emirates President Sir Tim Clark. “We’ve continued to roll out new products and services throughout the pandemic to make sure our clients can travel confidently and easily,” the company said.

Upgrades to the in-flight entertainment system and a new selection of movie snacks, including fan favourites like lobster rolls, sliders, edamame beans, and salted popcorn, are also on the agenda for Emirates.

According to Emirates, “all passengers may also build their own ice experience, simply browsing and pre-selecting movies or TV shows on the Emirates app,” which can then be synced to ice upon boarding.

In addition, this month marks the debut of a brand new menu for First Class guests on select Emirates flights.

The updated menu will feature dishes, including pan-fried salmon trout with moqueca sauce and creole rice, roasted duck breast with orange thyme juice, steamed broccolini and fondant potatoes.

On 1 September 2022, a new menu will be available for Business and Economy class passengers.

Vegan passengers on Emirates flights can order delicacies like pan-roasted king oyster mushrooms; sliced kohlrabi garnished with burnt orange, and jackfruit biryani, all of which are prepared by chefs using only plant-based ingredients.

Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in vegan delicacies like “green grape tart embellished with candied rose petals, vanilla custard, and berry compote glittering with yuzu pearls” or “chocolate truffle cake with hazelnut, pistachio, and gold leaf.”

But those flying First Class may indulge in special champagne and caviar experience, complete with unlimited servings of Persian caviar and vintage champagne.
