Trip.com has partnered with Atome, Asia’s leading Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform, to offer buy now pay later options to its customers across the region, starting first in Singapore. This partnership is expected to expand to other markets in the APAC region in 2023.

Through Trip.com’s first-ever regional partnership with a BNPL platform, travellers in Singapore can now pay for their flights and accommodations through flexible deferred payments by selecting Atome as a checkout option on Trip.com’s mobile app or website. To pay, users can download Atome’s app and register an account, before selecting Atome as the checkout payment option.

Trip.com currently carries a product offering of over 1.2 million hotels and flights from over 480 airlines in 200 countries. In the first half of 2022, Trip.com was the 10th most downloaded OTA app globally by leading app analysis firm Apptopia. The announcement comes as Trip.com continues to expand worldwide with its all-in-one app-first offering.

In a recent global survey by travel tech company Amadeus, 95 per cent of Singaporean respondents said they would consider BNPL services to fund their travel in the coming year, more than the global average of 75 per cent. This figure also beats the 57 per cent of those polled who said they might use a credit card. The survey also found that Singaporeans have the most appetite for international travel, coming ahead of German, French and US consumers.

Edmund Weng, Regional Director of Trip.com, said, “We’re delighted to partner Atome and offer our customers greater payment choice and flexibility when they book their travel with us via our website or mobile app. This new regional partnership with Atome is also timely with the year-end holidays coming up and we look forward to making travel more affordable and accessible to even more of our customers in Asia.”

Regional Head of Commercial at Atome, William Yang, said, “We’re truly excited to be Trip.com’s first-ever regional BNPL partner. Our partnership comes at an important time as Singapore and the world have re-opened their borders and with the holiday season around the corner. We’re excited to support the post Covid-19 travel recovery boom by enabling travellers to have flexible and convenient payment options to book their much-awaited holiday or business trips.”
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Atome will be holding an online travel fair “Own your Adventure” from November 4 – 16 this year, where users can purchase great travel deals from travel and hospitality merchants, including Trip.com. In conjunction, Atome will also be running a travel photo contest on Instagram where the grand prize winner will receive a US$10,000 travel package.
